Some lives remind us that success is never accidental; it is often the result of quite discipline, purpose, and a heart anchored in service. The journey of Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, State Counsel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Member of Parliament for Lusaka Central Constituency in the heart Zambia, is one such story.
Born on 12 May 1976, Hon. Haimbe has risen through the ranks with quiet strength, intellectual discipline, and steady commitment to service in all aspects of his career, private and public. A lawyer by profession, he earned his LLB from University of Zambia in 2000, was admitted to the Zambian bar in 2001 and later obtained an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration from Robert Gordon University Scotland, in 2009. This academic foundation among other pursuits, would later support his excellence in law, governance, and diplomacy.
Before entering public service, he built a distinguished legal career, serving as counsel for major institutions including Copperbelt Energy Corporation and Barclays Zambia PLC. He later returned to private practice as Partner, including as Managing Partner at Malambo & Company, where he contributed significantly to corporate, commercial and constitutional legal practice. His professional leadership extended beyond the firm: he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Certified Chartered Secretary ,an ILFA Ambassador, and has served as Commissioner of the Small Claims Court of Zambia, Among numerous other exploits.
Most recently in February 2026, Hon Haimbe successfully completed his second Masters Degree, this one being an International Affairs and Diplomacy offered by UNITAR and the UOC.
His political journey began not with personal ambition, but with a clear sense of public duty. Having actively served as a member of the United Party for National Development (UPND) Legal Committee since 2012, he first aspired for adoption as Lusaka Central MP in 2016. In 2021, the people of Lusaka Central entrusted him with representation in Parliament under the UPND . He was subsequently appointed Minister of Justice in September 2021, where he played a visible role in legal and institutional reform.
His national responsibility later expanded into diplomacy. In December 2023, he was appointed to Act as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation while sill holding the Justice Portfolio before his substantive appointment as Foreign Minister on 5th June 2024, a position through which he now represents Zambia on the global stage with clarity and distinction.
Beyond office and public responsibility, Hon. Haimbe is a devoted family man; a husband, father of four, and a baptized member of the Catholic Church. His commitment to service extends beyond politics into charity, youth empowerment, and community transformation. His interest in golf, rugby and as an avid fan of Arsenal and Power Dynamos football clubs reflect the discipline, patience, and strategic balance often visible in his leadership style.
Through every chapter of his life, one truth remains clear: leadership is not merely about elevation; it is about contribution. From the courtroom to Parliament, from legal practice to international diplomacy, his journey reflects purpose pursued with consistency.
