WHEN HEALING BECOMES A CALLING
Every day, people walk into Pauline Kusuwo’s clinic carrying pain. Some arrive unable to move freely after injury, while others carry wounds that no X-ray can reveal; discouragement, shattered confidence, and the belief that life will never be the same again. Pauline has learned to see beyond the physical symptoms. She sees possibility. For nearly three decades, she has dedicated her life to helping people regain not only physical strength but also hope, confidence, and purpose. Whether she is treating a patient, coaching a business leader, mentoring women, or speaking at conferences, her message remains unwavering: “You Can Live Again.” It is more than the motto of her physiotherapy practice, it is the philosophy that has shaped her life’s work.

A FOUNDATION BUILT ON EXCELLENCE
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1975, Pauline Kusuwo displayed discipline, determination, and leadership from an early age. At Alfred Beit Primary School she excelled academically while actively participating in sport, developing qualities that would become the foundation of her future success. Those attributes continued to grow during her years at Goromonzi High School, where she embraced the values of hard work, resilience, and service. When it came time to choose a career, Pauline knew she wanted a profession centred on improving people’s lives.
Physiotherapy provided the perfect combination of science, compassion, and practical impact. After qualifying in 1998, she began a journey that has now spanned nearly three decades, transforming lives through rehabilitation and holistic healthcare.

THE PHONE CALL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Pauline’s early career took her from clinical practice into education, where she served as a tutor at the Rehabilitation Technicians Training School in Marondera. While mentoring future rehabilitation professionals, an unexpected phone call inviting her to take over a private physiotherapy practice changed the course of her career. What seemed like a professional opportunity became a divine appointment, opening doors to entrepreneurship and leadership. Looking back, Pauline believes God’s greatest opportunities often arrive disguised as ordinary moments that require courage and faith.

STARTING AGAIN IN BOTSWANA
In 2008, Pauline relocated to Botswana, embracing the challenge of starting afresh. Rather than seeing uncertainty as an obstacle, she viewed it as an opportunity for growth. While serving in Botswana’s public healthcare system, she developed a passion for preventive healthcare and workplace wellness. She also serves as Chairperson of the Workplace Wellness Committee at Gantsi Primary Hospital, leading initiatives that encouraged healthier lifestyles and employee wellbeing. The experience reinforced her belief that effective healthcare begins not with treating illness, but with helping people make healthier choices.

TAKING THE LEAP OF FAITH
After years in government healthcare, Pauline knew it was time to pursue a bigger vision. In 2017, she left Botswana’s public service, departing Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital in Mochudi to establish her own private physiotherapy practice in Gaborone. That leap of faith gave birth to PhysioHub, a practice founded on the belief that healing is about restoring hope as much as restoring movement. Its motto, “You Can Live Again,” reflects her conviction that every person deserves the opportunity to recover physically, emotionally, and mentally.

LEARNING TO LEAD
Committed to lifelong learning, Pauline completed a Master of Physiotherapy in Community and Public Health Physiotherapy in 2016. The programme strengthened her expertise in leadership, health promotion, advocacy, wellness, community reintegration, and systems thinking. More importantly, it affirmed her belief that lasting transformation happens when healthcare reaches beyond hospitals into homes, workplaces, and communities.

UNLOCKING HUMAN POTENTIAL
As Pauline’s faith deepened, she realised that many people are held back not by a lack of ability but by a lack of belief in themselves and God’s purpose for their lives. This inspired the creation of Empower Success Solutions, a leadership and capacity development organisation dedicated to equipping individuals, entrepreneurs, professionals, and organisations to reach their full potential. Through coaching, mentoring, and leadership development, she helps people renew their thinking and lead with purpose.

BUILDING MOVEMENTS, NOT JUST EVENTS
Driven by a passion for transformation, Pauline launched two flagship initiatives. The Mind Boost Convention empowers women to overcome limiting beliefs and pursue their God-given purpose with confidence, while the Ignite Kingdom Business Summit equips entrepreneurs to build businesses rooted in integrity, excellence, and Kingdom values. Following successful events in Botswana and Zimbabwe, she now envisions taking both platforms across Africa.

BEYOND THE CLINIC
Pauline’s influence extends well beyond physiotherapy. She leads a wellness and lifestyle transformation club, coaching people in nutrition, healthy living, and sustainable habits. She is also a passionate farmer, producing livestock, poultry, vegetables, and eggs as an expression of stewardship and healthy living. From 2018 to 2022, she volunteered as Physiotherapist for the Botswana National Netball Team, supporting elite athletes at the highest level. Whether in healthcare, farming, wellness, or sport, her mission remains the same: to serve with excellence and empower people to thrive.

WHY HER STORY MATTERS
Across Africa, development conversations often focus on infrastructure, technology, and economic growth. Pauline Kusuwo reminds us that no nation can truly prosper without investing in its greatest resource, its people. Her journey shows that healthcare extends beyond hospitals, leadership reaches beyond boardrooms, and transformation begins whenever someone restores hope and unlocks potential. Through every patient she treats, every entrepreneur she mentors, and every audience she inspires, Pauline is helping build a healthier, stronger, and more purpose-driven Africa.

LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM PAULINE KUSUWO
Pauline’s journey offers timeless lessons for emerging leaders. She believes purpose is greater than position, continuous learning fuels lasting impact, and faith often requires courageous decisions. She also believes that health is one of life’s greatest investments and that true success is measured not by personal achievements, but by the lives transformed. These principles continue to guide her leadership and service.

LOOKING AHEAD
Pauline’s vision reaches far beyond her achievements to date. She plans to expand Empower Success Solutions across Africa, grow the Mind Boost Convention and Ignite Kingdom Business Summit, promote healthier lifestyles, and equip a new generation of purpose-driven leaders. Her mission is not simply to build successful organisations, but to build people who will transform Africa.

Africa’s future will not be shaped by natural resources alone, but by leaders who invest in people, restore hope, and inspire purpose. Pauline Kusuwo embodies this vision. Through healthcare, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and wellness advocacy, she is proving that lasting transformation begins by believing in people before they believe in themselves. Her greatest legacy will not be measured by titles, but by the lives she has empowered to rise again. In restoring movement, renewing minds, and awakening purpose, she reminds us that Africa’s greatest resource is its people.
